MEADIAVILLE
Meadiaville
/meadiaville/ adjective
Meadville's youth media makers have a lot to say, so let's listen. This is the Meadiaville Listening Project.
One If By Land
Formed in Meadville by local musicians, One If By Land is a punk rock band that has played just about every venue in northwest Pennsylvania. The four band members have collectively been in dozens of previous bands, such as The Twirpentines, SignalHome, The Walnut Street Project, The Caddies, and Waiting for Never. Each artist brings something different to the table in terms of instrumental proclivity and sound. Fred Oakman is the lead vocalist and guitarist alongside his longtime bandmate, Troy Messerall, who also does vocals and plays the guitar and keyboard. Bassist Paul Dean and percussionist Jim Stone joined the group shortly after it was formed in 2009, when Fred and Troy decided that the acoustic work they were playing around with was good enough to start a band. The members of One If By Land keep a very positive outlook on Meadville and largely believe that it is a city that still has potential for the punk rock scene to stay alive.
