1980s

1980- William S. DeArment, son of William A. became the president of Channellock.  William A and George S. became co-chairman of the company’s board of directors.

1982- C&J industries expanded in the medical and business machine markets. This fueled the growth of the company in the 1980s.  This is when the company was renamed to C&J Industries Inc. The C&J stands for Harold Corner and Dick Johnson, the founders of the company.

1982- C&J became an FDA registered medical device manufacturer.

1982- C&J built their first Clean Room and began producing medical injection molded components along with complete medical devices.

 

1984- Channellock obtained a patent for the PermaLock fastener for their Tongue and Groove Pliers which continued to add to it’s product line and other patterns of the air brake tool, Locknut plier, and Rescue Tools 88 and 89
