1930s

- The first railroad started to operate in Meadville.  This became a popular stop to take a rest on cross country journeys.  This lead for hotels and shops to open up and prosper within the city. This railroad encouraged industry in the area.

Channellock was founded by George B. DeArment and eventually moved to Meadville in 1904.

- Talon Zipper was founded- the company was originally named Universal Fastener Company.

- Channellock lost all its cash assets when the local bank teller stole all their funds.  DeArment raised enough capital to save the company and it was running again.
