1960s

1960- Estimated that 7/10 zippers in the country were made from Talon

1962- C&J industries began.  They were created when two young toolmakers, Dick Johnson and Harold Corner started a small tool company named Meadville Precision Tool and Mold.  The company started in a small garage and gained their attention through building plastic injection molding components that were high quality.

1963Champion-DeArment names their company to Channellock.

1965- Channellock puts a patent on the conical surface created on the cam side of the tongue and groove pliers.

1968- Talon was absorbed by Textron Industries.  Textron ended up bankrupt and now nothing but a couple run down buildlings remain in Meadville.  But the result of tool and die makers and the cottage industry was establihsed in Meadville coining Meadville with the nickname “Tool City USA.” Containing more tool and die shops per capita in the United States.
